Creative Portrait - Make portraits that transcend
Learn portraiture.
This course will guide you through all that there is to see to unleash your imagination and create the most unique portraits. Made for everyone, using any types of cameras, with or without Manual Mode.
Course will introduce you to high end portraiture, starting with Portrait DIY home studio setup, through to various kinds of lighting effects and the use of Props, and subjective imagery. Classes will include practice and experimentation with a myriad of lighting effects. Using simple home-made setups and equipment that you already have, you'll learn the classic light setup, High Key and Low key, Corrective and dramatic lighting, among other tricks using both natural and artificial lighting. Course will also include a review, analysis and practice of all types of portraiture, - from documentary to editorial - the history of portraiture, and the famous portraitists and their techniques. You'll have in class photo shooting and experimentation of all techniques reviewed during class, as well as weekly assignments & photo critiques of your own work. Note: Course will not include a live model, but you are welcome to set one up with your class mates.
Take this course is a perfect match for our Studio & Lighting course and a step up from the Portrait Beginners' guide course.
Requirements: Any digital camera including Phone cameras and mirrorless with Automatic or Manual mode. Though not necessary, We highly recommend taking the Portrait Beginners guide workshop prior to this course - this course will not include the basics of Portrait composition, shooting angles, and basic lighting. We highly recommend knowing the basics of your camera - This course will not cover camera settings and the basics of shooting.
Notes on film cameras: Please note that while most content of this course is applicable to digital cameras, you are welcome to attend as long as your film camera has an automatic shooting mode.
This workshop is Online, Outdoors and in Studio.
his workshop will be the first 2 classes online, 1 class outdoors, and 1 class in a photo studio (various locations in Union Square).
Workshop will include: Environmental portrait, natural indoor and outdoor lighting, classic posing and directng the subject, Creative lighting and props, and much more.
Updates COVID-19: Most all classes except for Studio and Flash are offered as online Webinars when/as needed, until COVID-19 is no longer a concern. Students can request this option at any time during the course. There'll be a 48 hours refund policy for any courses starting after Mar 12, that need be canceled due to COVID-19.
