Chef John was great! Friendly, knowledgeable and we learn a lot about Asian dishes, ingredients etc. looking forward to making these dishes at home!
-
-
Great class and worth every ingredient. The tips and tricks Chef John bestowed upon us are game changers. I'm no longer intimidated by making poached eggs.
-
-
John was a dream. He made it fun and interacted with the class well. The best gnocchi game ever!! I loved it! The salad and the linguini best ever!!
-
-
Great time with the other couple and our great Chef. He was kind, funny and very informative. Very handsome on experience, the best part , eating what was made. Looking forward to doing it again.
-
Amazing job by the instructor.
The food was amazing. I’ve never tasted anything like it, and I’ve been able to harness the techniques that he taught us in that class to enhance the cooking. I do at home.

Thus class was great!!!!! I learned so much! Plus I have a recipe that I can impress anyone with!❤️
-
Great class! Learned a lot and made some delicious meals, highly recommend!
-
-
-
Excellent chef! Learned a lot and dinner was spectacular!!!! Please keep me informed of more classes with chef John!!!!
-
Great organization to class, great pace and instruction by Chef, Delicious dinner! Really superb!
-
This class was wonderful. Seating was arranged so that everyone could see the chef. The chef explained everything as he prepared the dishes....He answered all questions.
His assistant handed out plates and silverware in a seamless fashion.
The selected pork dishes were excellent.

I was excited to take this beginners class to learn to make these korean dishes.
Jennifer, our instructor was easy going (always had a smile on her face) and was full of information. We were taught technique and she answered our questions while we made several different dishes. I enjoyed myself immensely! I have to say that when I left the class I was walking down the street, singing in my head "I'm in heaven..." LOL
Can't wait for this weekend to make pork dumplings and for the next several weekends will attempt to make another dish taught in class like the kimchi fried rice with a fried egg on top and the beef bulgogi, before I forget what I learned in class. And next month the Kimchi Jigae which I found surprisingly delicious as I'm not a fan of spicy food.
I highly recommend this class especially if taken with Jennifer!
-
John was outstanding as a chef and as a teacher. I enjoyed him and his class immensely. I'll be back!
-
-
What a great experience! I will definitely take another class.
-
-
-
The instructor was very informative and gave tips on several fundamental techniques in baking. However, it was a lot less interactive than I anticipated, as the instructor did 90% of the baking, allowing the students to do a handful of the techniques for short time. I enjoyed it, but in my opinion, it was not a great value for the price.
-
Perfect Saturday afternoon class!
-
-
My daughter and I liked this class a lot. Instructor was great! We just wished we could do everything by ourselves not just watching. But overall experience was very good anyway!
-
-
-
The food taste good and we get to participate in the making of food.
-
The chef was knowledgeable, fun and I learned a lot. great experience
-
Very nice and professional Chef instructor. Comfortable and casual environment .

-
-
-
-
This place is amazing as always. Recipes are easy and the chef is informative as always.
-
Great teaching and good interaction.
Need more on history of Korean Cooking
What ingredients they use which others don’t.
Why certain ingredients are added and what makes the Korean dish unique comparing to Chinese and Japanese .
What are the health benefits of the Korean dishes which we do not find in others
What type of desert they serve after dinner
What sequence the dinner is served. What are the tradition to follow while serving Korean food
Just inquisitive
It was a great class
Thank you John
-
-
John was a great instructor, and I really liked that we ate the food that we sliced up at the end of class. It is a nice space too. I will be back for more classes.

It was an interesting and fun class overall, and the instructor was great. I would have preferred a more hands-on class, though. This was more of a demonstration with a handful of hands-on tasks thrown in. Admittedly, it's hard to see how everything in this class could be made hands-on. It would be rather difficult to make just one or two biscuits, or to make a tiny batch of shrimp and grits.
-
This class was great for someone like me that doesn't cook much at all and want's to learn some delicious basics and techniques.
-
I learned so many ways of cooking pork, and all of them are doable at home! I'm excited to try all of these recipes. I also learned many techniques that will make my cooking better and easier.
-
We really enjoyed the class but wish there was a little more hands-on cooking. Otherwise, chef was skilled and fun and he taught us how to make delicious duck. I would take a class with him again if we were able to prepare more of the dishes.
-
-
-
Excellent chef and great meals, wished for more hands on cooking for the group.
-
Loved it! I impressed my boyfriend on our Valentine’s Day dinner with one of the delicious sauces I learned. Can’t wait to try the others. Very informative class. The teacher went above and beyond teaching us only sauces. Super fun, intimate group. Can’t wait to take my next class!

Very passionate great teacher John loves to share his cooking skills with the students in a fun and playful manner! Will sign up for more classes!
-

-
Wonderful time! Great recipes and a wonderful instructor.
-
-
-
Goes at a nice pace for you to ask a ton of questions and LEARN how to cook properly!
-
-
The class was great! And John was amazing! Nice guy that takes the time to answer any questions and talk through the cooking. Loved it!
-
The class was great. High quality and realistic. It was fun too.
-
-
-
The "How to Cook Duck" was AMAZING! John was a fantastic teacher and I really want him to teach an advanced Duck course. The food delicious! I wish there had been enough for leftovers. I highly recommend this class!
-
-
The chef was friendly and very informative, and created a welcome and helpful atmosphere in the room.
-
I really enjoyed this class! It was so fun to learn the different dishes, and the sit down dinner at the end was absolutely delicious!
-
John was an absolute delight to work with. He is a great chef and a hilarious person. It was a class with just me, so it could have been canceled but they allowed me to take it as a one on one course, which was kind and generous. John made me feel right at home from the start and taught me all that there was to know about the delicious Korean dishes we made.
-
The southern bbq class definitely exceeded our expectations...the meal was delicious and the interaction was one that we will always look back on as a fun memory. Chef John is a master of his art, and anyone taking a class with him is truly privileged.
-
Fun and hands on! We had 10 ppl in the class (6 were my family). Chef was funny and great to watch!
-
Fantastic! I’ve already tried one of the recipes. Chef was fantastic.
-
-
Chef John is a very knowledgeable and a lot of fun to cook and share stories with. The food was, of course, delicious and the only complaint I'd have is that the evening ended too soon. I could have stayed all night.
-
Excellent instructor!! He was thoroughly entertaining, knowledgeable and a pure delight. We had a great time at this class and would definitely recommend it for a wonderful night out. Absolutely terrific!
-
This was an all-around excellent class! Our instructor was fun and informative and all of the food was delicious. I can absolutely see myself making any and all of the dishes which we prepared and I love the fact that I've added a few exciting new things to my cooking repertoire. You definitely will not leave this course hungry. Though we definitely participated in the preparation of each dish, I would have perhaps liked to have been even more involved in these steps, if only because I enjoyed making this food so much. Overall, though, this was a great experience and I would highly recommend it!
-
-
This was a really fun class! The instructor was very lively and the food we made was amazingly delicious! I wish it was a little more hands-on or a little more advanced, but overall, we had a great evening and would recommend the class!
-
John was great! Informative teacher with a great menu planned. Food was delicious and John pointed out where we could make adjustments to his recipes based on our tastes. Will be easy to wow future brunch guests.
-
Wonderful experience and the food was delicious
-
Pork!!
-
Had a great time and learned a lot. Instructor was very engaging and personable. Food was incredible.
-
The class really exceeded my expectations! LOVED the teacher - he was super engaging and had really awesome cooking tips. And the food, of course, was absolutely delicious. So happy I went!
-
This was a fantastic class in a great setting. John was a great teacher, both informative and approachable. I love cooking and expected it to be very beginner, but I learned quite a few new tips and loved all of the dishes we made.
-
This class was amazing. The perfect combination of DIY and watching a professional chef at work. The chef (John) was amazing at explaining what he was doing and providing tips and tricks along the way to making the courses he was making easier, but also to help us cook any meal in the future in a better way (who knew you should be crushing oregano?!?!).
I recommend this course to ANYONE who loves pork, but also loves to cook. I would also take any class that John teaches, as his food is not only fantastic, but his teaching style was great.
-
The chef made it fun and easy to follow along
-
-
-
-
Exceptionally well taught! Food was delicious, but salty ham substitiutuon for sausage made the shrimp sauce too salty on the grits. Hopefully, it will be cooked with sausages in the future.
-
-
-
John the instructor is the man! We had a great time
-
-
Fun, informative and yummy!
-
-
John, the chef/instructor, was fantastic. Took time explaining each step and encouraged everyone to ask questions. Was a lot of fun.
-
-
The Intro to Korean Cooking was awesome!!!
Five (5) delicious dishes, Goon Mandoo, Kinchi Jjigae, Korean Sticky Rice, Kimchi Fried Rice,
and Bulgogi. We prepared, cooked and dined on each dish.. they were easy to make for everyone
and fun to do.
And our Chef!!! .. Outstanding!
Thank You... looking forward to another class,
mike

I had a great time learning new dishes from a different culture. The instructor was amazing and friendly. It was fun and it taught me a lot.

-
This Knife skills 101 is worth 5 stars and even more!
It was magique to discover how to sharp a knife before using it to cut all kind of vegetable!
At the end of the course, we are able to cut any vegetable in any kind of form: dice, julienne, mincing, etc...
Last, John used these vegetables to prepare and serve three delicious dishes we shared together at the end of the class.
-
Love john scoff
-
-
-
I would pay a little more if it meant higher quality ingredients considering the amount used. E.g. Butter. Otherwise enjoyed the course. Instructor was good.
-
John who taught this class was awesome. We had the best time. Will for sure be coming again
-
-
I was expecting for everyone to make their own plate of food. But I believe this was a great way to start attending more cooking classes thank you so much I truly loved the class.
-
-
This was an amazing class! John is so knowledgable and engaging, and packed the class with so much valuable information. I left feeling like I can really take these techniques back to my kitchen and implement them and build on them. The meal was beyond delicious--I highly recommend this class!
-
-
Love Chef John. Always lots to learn from him. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS and I went home filled to the brim. Other than making the duck, I'm really excited to start making my own vinaigrette and cherry reduction sauce. Would recommend this class to anyone who LOVES duck as much as our group did!
-
-
Have gone to other cooking classes and this was the. best! The chef/instructor John was well prepared, professional and yet down to earth. He showed us useful techniques ,tasting guidelines, helpful does and don't. The atmosphere was fun and each southern dish was delicious.
I left the experience planning to enroll in another class!

Teacher was nice and the food tastes good.

The menu and our chef made tonight magical! It was a pleasure.

-
I learned so much so quickly! John was just a terrific instructor. I intend to start to apply what he taught to mmediately!
-
-
John was wonderful and imparted lots of great cooking information.
I LOVED the eggs benedict especially substituting the english muffin with a slice of tomato, breaded, etc. It had a tartness that went great with the pancetta and egg. It was delicious.
The shrimp and grits was great and the dessert delectable.
I will go back for another class after the holidays.
-
-
This class was amazing. the instructor was down to earth and really cool. he made it a very interactive learning environment. He also made adaptations for the meal since i don't eat meat, which was really considerate. i enjoyed the food a lot and left the course really full. this is my second class with this cooking school and i enjoyed the set up of the place and how small the group size was. definitely would recommend this class and the instructor.
-
Like small class size, instructor was very good and pleasant/friendly/fun, and good range/variety of dishes covered.
-
-
-
-
I thought that the instructor (John) did a great job of incorporating Chinatown's culture and food! It was a great experience!
-
-
-
Super informative class. I feel like I walked away with a good knowledge of the dishes and a bunch of tips to improve my cooking overall. Would recommend.
-
-
The class was well run and a lot of fun. I earned techniques and new great recipes, and i enjoyed the food.
-
Size of class was perfect. Erica the instructor was great. I learned a lot of helpful tips and skills.
-
Great dishes!
-
-
-
The class was to slow, instructor did not ask people to wash hands, especially late comers. Spent to much time getting late comer ( about 45 min) up to speed. The soup was purple as was white beans and potatoes. Not eye appealing. I was disappointed.
-
Super fun and educational! Delicious recipes! Chef John was fantastic!
-
-
Fine, but we really didn't do much. I have had far better cooking classes where I actually did something.
-
I was always unsure how to prepare and cook shellfish but after taking this course and thanks to Chef John I have more knowledge than I knew and will start making what I have learned. I definitely would recommend this course to everyone !
-
-
-
-
We liked John very much, he is an excelent teacher
-
Instructor was very engaging and made the class very fun! Food was amazing and the lessons on how to make them as well as cooking in general is definitely something I'll be making use of!

Excellent teacher and great setting - would like to learn more techniques

The instructor was knowledgeable & personable but this was more of a cooking demo than an actual cooking class (we practiced some very basic knife skills). The food at the end was amazing but there was no easy way to take home the leftovers (and there were LOTS of leftovers)! If they provided containers and bags that would have been great (or suggested we bring some along in case of leftovers).
-
-
-
We had an excellent time! The class far exceeded our expectations. The food was delicious and our experience was fun and informative. We will definitely be trying those recipes at home.
-
John Scoff was awesome. Great dude with a killer personality who knocked it outta the park! The food we cooked was awesome. Highly recommended if you are a lover of the pork sciences, or a person of the ethnic persuasion. God bless America.
-
-
-
The instructor went above and beyond what I expected and seemed to genuinely care about teaching us to cook. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire class. Is there a way to tip the instructor after the class?
-
The "How to Cook Fish" class was terrific. John taught us the tips and tricks of cooking fish as well as demonstrating and allowing us to participate in the preparation of 4 different fish dishes. Each recipe was more delicious than the next and the fish was cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend cooking classes at Home Cooking New York and am planning on taking more in the future.

-
Great class. Learned 4 pork dishes but a ton of useful kitchen skills as well. Will definitely take more classes w this group
-
Great Instructor, small class size, and I learned a lot. Would have loved a little more hands on experience during the class, and I wish there were take home containers, as much of my delicious food had to be left behind.
-
-
Home Cooking New York has a great facility, interactive learning and an understandable instructor. The process and meal was explained well enough to allow me to cook it all again at home! I highly recommend this course.
-
-

John is amazing. Great food and a great teacher

The class is informative; however, it is more of a demonstration than it is a hands-on cooking class.

The instructor was very informative and approachable. I had the opportunity to hone my knife skill. I just wish the class was more hands on regarding other cooking techniques, but this is most likely a result of limited resources. Otherwise, this is a good starter class.

I really liked Erica as an instructor. She was extremely down-to-earth and approachable, but she obviously was very experienced and knowledgeable. I look forward to taking my next class with her. She was awesome on Chopped too!
-
Great teacher
Easy to follow recipes
Food tasted excellent
-
The class had only 05 people.
It was so nice to be there
-
-
A lot of fun. Sorry I was late.

John was a great teacher. Class was fun and informative.
-
Erica is a great and enthusiastic teacher. The experience was very hands on and I will be surely making better pasta now!
-
Fantastic course w/an amazing instructor. We are about to book another!
-
Loved the course---- John the teacher was terrific!
The class members were eager to participate.
A great experience
Thank you
-
John was terrific, very thorough and easy to work with. It was a nice group of people and small enough to that you could ask as many questions and get detailed answers. The food we prepared was great. I will take another class with John.
Only negative is the space which is not as professional looking as ICE or some others but the personality of the chef and his desire to teach us and watch us individually made it a wonderful experience.
-
-
-
-
-
Informative, fun, and DELICIOUS. I love learning new cooking techniques and enjoying the fruits of my labor after!
-
Awesome class! Organized informative and delicious!
-
-
Great class! The chef provided a lot of great education and the food was delicious!
-
This was a solid and well rounded introduction to everyday knife skills and safety. The instructor was great and made the class fun. The meal he made was delicious too!!!
-
-
-
I had a great time, and I learned a lot as well. I'll definitely be looking for other classes from Home Cooking.
-
Phenomenal experience! Learned some valuable essentials about cooking Italian food that we will take home with us and start using right away. Chef John is experienced, knowledgeable, very animated, and loves to get everyone involved with the cooking process. The kitchen is very well suited for a small sized group and is clean and modern. Would gladly do this again!
-
My boyfriend and I had a great time at this class. John is super knowledgeable and made cooking less intimidating (I am not a great cook!) The food was delicious and it was nice chatting with the other people in the class. Definitely bring a bottle of wine to sip on while cooking. The space is nice, really clean. Would definitely take another class like this again!
-
John was great! We loved the course and he was the nicest guy as well. He is a gem.
thank you John for putting on the course despite the storm!

-
Yummy course. Four very good seafood recipes and terrific tips from the chef-instructor. Hands-on class. Excellent value.
-
Overall the class was enjoyable. It's bit too pricey considering the ingredients and portions. A few kitchen hygiene rules were broken too.
-
I had a great time last night at Six Basic Cooking Techniques. John was a fun instructor and took the time to answer any question, no matter how basic or tangential. Even with all of this conversation, the class never felt rushed. I definitely feel like I understand more of the basics of cooking (how to properly chop and roast vegetables, how to pan sear meat) and got an amazing meal out of it as well Seriously, the steak was divine. And I've been introduced to fennel!
-
Really fun course! Small enough group, so you get to meet other people and chat. The four meals we made were all very good and it was fun being able to eat them after. Our instructor was friendly and informative. I know that we all learned at least a few general cooking tips - both beginners and advanced cookers learned something. Would definitely recommend.
-
Hi, the course was great and the guide wonderful. I would just suggest adding a bit more info about the area, ie historical facts or architectural info. I realize it is a tasting class, but it would add a bit more substance to it.
-
It's a bit expensive, but a good day out.
-
Fun, Delicious food!
-
French Bistro Favorites at Home Cooking NY was a great class. The instructor, John, was very clear and explained what he was doing and why he was doing it very well. He was very patient with everyone in the class and always asked for and answered questions. The kitchen space we were in was incredibly nice and there was sufficient room for 10 of us around the work area. It was a great experience and I would highly recommend classes there.
-
Great class for beginners. Learned a lot about searing steak, sauteing, & an intro to knife skills.
-
I would recommend this course to those just starting to learn how to cook. It was a good, very basic lesson from an instructor that's worked in commercial kitchens. The food was very tasty though and I'll make several of his dishes again. My biggest disappointment was that he did not make one of the dishes that was advertised - the potato and fennel gratin which I was looking forward to. The space was nice and filled with light with room for the 11 of us taking the class.
-
John was awesome! He made sure we were all comfortable, understood what was happening and had a good time.
The space was also great!
-
This class was awesome, more fun and tasty than I expected. The Chef did a great job with hands on participation. The class was well organized and informative. I recommend this class to everyone.
-
I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a night out with their significant other. The chef was great and the food we cooked was even better. Me and my fiance` loved this class and learned a lot of good tips when cooking. Bring a bottle of wine, relax, cook, eat and learn, doesn't get any better.
