Hey there! Ready to pick up that needle and thread for the first time? Or finally take that sewing machine you bought out of the box and put it to good use? With Sewing 101, we are going back to the basics, starting from scratch and taking you step by step through all the essentials to make learning to sew a fun and inspiring experience for adults!
Sewing 101 is perfect for complete beginners & people who have sewn in the past but need a refresher, where they will learn how to competently use a sewing machine and complete a skirt or drawstring pants from a commercial pattern!
During this course you will learn:
· all of the necessary sewing terminology & equipment
· how to read a commercial pattern
· how to choose the right fabric for a garment--either a skirt or drawstring pants
· how to make a drawstring bag
· how to set in a waistband
· how to identify fabric grain lines
· over 6 different types of stitches & seam finishes using a sewing machine!
PREREQUISITE: None!

PRICE: In person classes are $385 for 12 hours total and do not include supplies, and virtual classes are 8 hours total and include supplies. Virtual students can choose to purchase with or without a sewing machine!
VIRTUAL CLASSES
DURATION: 2 hours once a week for 4 weeks. 8 hours total.
PROJECT: Students in this class will make a denim tote bag and EITHER a skirt or elastic waist pants. When selecting your class below, at the beginning of the listing, it will say either "VIRTUAL SKIRT CLASS" or "VIRTUAL PANTS CLASS," so you will determine which project you are making when you sign up.
SUPPLIES: All supplies will be included for the duration of the class and shipped upon enrollment we will be using the same pattern for the virtual class and includes S,M,L. Please let us know if you would like a plus size pattern as we also have those options. All classes will be recorded and available to students to review after each class for practice.
VIRTUAL CLASS RECORDINGS: All virtual classes will be recorded. If you miss a class or need to practice at home you may request the recording and rewatch. Class recordings are only available to students registered for the class and only the speaker will be recorded.
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.
