Interior Perspective Sketching is a six-week studio course designed to develop the essential hand-sketching skills interior designers use to communicate spatial ideas clearly and effectively. Open to students of all drawing abilities, the course provides a structured progression from foundational perspective principles to refined presentation techniques.
Through lectures, demonstrations, guided studio practice, and critiques, students will explore spatial observation, proportion, one- and two-point perspective, foreshortening, furniture construction, light and shadow, and material expression. Emphasis is placed on understanding space and translating three-dimensional environments into confident, expressive drawings.
Students will develop a practical workflow for moving from quick conceptual sketches to more refined presentation drawings. By the end of the course, students will be able to construct convincing interior spaces, integrate furniture and architectural elements, and use line, tone, light, shadow, and material cues to create visual depth and atmosphere.
The course culminates in a fully developed interior perspective drawing that demonstrates accurate spatial construction, composition, furniture placement, lighting, material indication, and visual storytelling.
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.
