Office was first released in 1990, and included three apps: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The productivity suite has gone through a number of evolutions since then. In 2013, it went online and became Office 365, available by subscription rather than a one-time download. In 2020, it was renamed Microsoft 365 to reflect the fact that it is not just useful in an office setting, but also has a variety of personal uses.

There are a number of different Microsoft Office classes in Learning Tree International is based in Virginia, and offers IT training classes to students around the world. The company was founded in 1974. Learning Tree offers a beginner-level class for students who want to learn SharePoint. Microsoft SharePoint Training runs over 4 days and costs $2,990. Students learn to create and manage SharePoint sites. TLG Learning also runs a one-day beginner Word class called Word–Part 1.
