Back Porch Soap Company was founded in 1998 by Marla Bosworth. Ms. Bosworth leads workshops to educate and empower students to make their own natural skincare products, essential oil blends, natural wax candles and other products for personal enjoyment or to sell. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge on entrepreneurship, how to work with wildcrafted plants, aromatics and plant-based, organic ingredients. She is well-known in the natural skincare community. She teaches experiential workshops that are engaging as well as providing a comfortable environment for students to ask questions and learn. Ms. Bosworth owned and operated two brick-and-mortar stores, managed a nationwide team of sales reps for her beauty brand, exhibited at major trade shows throughout the U.S. and sold to major retailers such as Whole Foods. Recently, Marla was selected as a mentor, coach and judge for the Emerging Beauty Brands category for the NY NOW wholesale trade show for retailers.
Ms. Bosworth is a shamanic practitioner, Reiki Master and soul guidance coach, working with several energetic healing modalities. She speaks at wellness events and conferences throughout the U.S.

Very knowledgeable teacher. After many tries reading candle making books and making candles with crappy results, Marla cut through all the useless info I brought into class and gave straight forward useful techniques, tried and true products…candle wax, wicks, fragrances and candle vessels. I made 2 great candles and left armed with useful info to continue making candles at home. Thank you!!!

We got to make 2 amazing candles. 1 is Soy and 1 is Coconut. They smell amazing. This class is perfect for someone wanting to learn the business side of candles.

Myself, not a chemist but Marla made it so that I did not feel out of my element. Class was informative, enjoyable and overall fun. Definitely, a hobby I will find therapeutic to immerse myself in. Looking forward to partaking in future classes.

The class was jam‐packed with information. It was accessible for total beginners and detailed enough for people who want to understand the science behind this art for their business. Marla gave wonderful advice on making recipes. She answered every question in simple terms. We received a handout for notes. Everyone left with 4 products to take home. I would recommend this class or the diploma to anyone who is serious about jumpstarting their business and wants to connect to a true industry professional.

I loved it! It was a wonderful class. I found it to be very informative, fun and actually therapeutic. The instructor even provided a video for us to watch before the class which provided a lot of information and will actually serve as a great follow-up resource. I will definitely sign up for more courses.
