Basic Ikebana: Japanese Simplicity in Floral Design

It was an Amazing class! We had so much fun & loved the teacher, she was so sweet, patient, funny & attentive. We learned a lot & created beautiful floral designs. Will most definitely be coming back in the near future!

I recently attended a 1-hour "Basic Ikebana" class last weekend, and my experience left me with mixed feelings. The class seems to be tailored for those who have little to no knowledge of Ikebana and are seeking a brief introduction with a hands-on approach. The instructor provided a good overview of the historical background of Ikebana, offering valuable context for beginners. However, if you're already familiar with Ikebana and are eager to delve into the rules, techniques, and flower selection process, this class might not meet your expectations. The initial step of creating the floral composition was well-structured, guided, and informative. Unfortunately, the subsequent stages lacked the same level of organization and direction. Participants were left to their own devices, free to explore without much guidance on refining their creations or understanding the principles behind Ikebana. The small group setting was a highlight, creating an intimate and personalized atmosphere. It allowed for individual attention and a sense of camaraderie among participants. The selection of flowers provided was aesthetically pleasing, contributing to the overall positive experience. The room ambiance was comfortable and chill, fostering a relaxed environment conducive to creativity. However, for those seeking a more structured and educational experience beyond the basics, this class might leave you wanting more.
